the cell phone program...
Is there a web site that I can read up on about this?
does anyone know where I can find a demo?
general facts about it?

I've just gotten a cell, (again) and I was considering getting talks for it, but I have no idea whatsoever how to go about it, or how much it costs, or if services for the blind will pay for it.
lol, info is appreciated.

Hi.
The talks website is www.nuance.com/talks.

You can download a demo, find list of dealers and other useful things. I don't know in America the situation but i am sure some phone providers give free talks but i think you will have to get a contract with them.

Cala, visit the site Nicos has given, for a demo, go to the downloads link, when given the next page, look for the combo box to silect a phone, silect your phone model, then click the continue button, it takes you to a download page for a bunch of files that will be suitable for that phone. choose the one you prefer, be it eloquence or reaol speak, UK or US, and download the file, plus instalation instructions. any of those files can be used as a demo, both as the 10 minute standard, or for what i think is now a 10 day full demo which you can activate yourself once the software is installed to the phone.

hey all.
I just had to reformat my phone. Does anyone here have a nokia 9300 or 9500? If so can you tell me what keys to push to install talks?

Well, I thought you installed talks the same on any phone. I've done so on 3 now, and though it depends from where you're installing, you can simply keep hitting key 1 as talks calls it, unless you want to install to a memory card, then you have to know at which point to hit down arrow, but honestly can't remember.

Cala, It could be worth trying to argue that it was baught as a gift, the person who baught it, didn't know it wasn't compatible, and see if you can't persuade them to help. I believe there is a specific department with singular for this kind of thing, who I believe are the only people who would even have a clue as to what you're talking about. hopefully someone can help you with that information soon, if not, I'll see if I can find anything out for you.

mobile speak is better. www.codefactory.es

what utter bullshit, it's a relative situation, there are good and bad in both, and in fact unless mobile speak has improved greatly in the last 12 months it wouldn't stand a chance.
however, considering the topic was about talks, compatible phones, and then how to install it, I fail to see the need to even start shouting about which is best.

If you, for instance, have Verizon, forget Talks. No phones on Verizon supports it. However, an arguably cheeper, but in my view better option, is going with a Windows Mobile solution like Mobile Speak Smarphone edition. THis is relative because she may not even have a phone on the proper wireless company, meaning she'd have to do a *lot* of switching.

The motorola Q which i think verizon has does support talks. I have both talks and mobile speak and their are advanages and disadvantages to both

Ok cala. what phone do you currently have? Are you on cingular? I know cingular knows about talks. Now as for me, i had to buy it out of my own pocket. But you may get lucky.

May I clear up a misunderstanding? The motorola q is a windows mobile smart phone and does not support talks unless talks is now making a program for smart phones. I don't believe they are. For the q you would need mobile speak for smartphones. As a previous post stated, to advise you further perhaps you can share what phone you have presently and what your current service is. If you are using cingular/At&T you should be able to simply take the sim(subscriber identification modual) card out of your current phone and put it in the new one. If your service is on Verizon then you will not be able to use a GSM phone which cingular uses at all. I have an associate using Talks on a nokia 6680 or Hmm, 6682? well, one of those and she is quite happy with it. Demo's are wonderful things and I would suggest rather then buying software try one for a demo and see which one you like. Mobilespeak and talks both have demos and this will allow you to see which one suits you best. (Okay! no comments about my bad spelling please)!!!

are any sprint phones compatible with Talks?

Post 16 by tunedtochords (Zone BBS is my Life) on Monday, 16-Jul-2007 19:37:40

I don't think so, as talks only works on GSM networks (AT&T or T-Mobile). However, sprint does carry the motorola Q, which works with mobile speak smartphone. www.codefactory.es if you're interested.
